Consignment FAQs

What is vehicle consignment?

Vehicle consignment allows You Sell Auto to market and sell your vehicle on your behalf while you remain the owner until it sells and the transaction is completed. We handle advertising, buyer inquiries, test drives, financing, and paperwork.

How does the consignment process work?

You bring your vehicle to You Sell Auto for an evaluation. We review current market conditions, discuss pricing strategy, and review the amount you would like to receive upon sale. Once your vehicle is consigned, You Sell Auto manages the sales process from start to finish, including marketing, buyer inquiries, test drives, financing, and paperwork.

What types of vehicles can be consigned?

We typically accept vehicles up to 15 years old, including cars, trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans, RVs, and campers. Exceptions may be considered for vehicles older than 15 years based on condition, demand, and overall marketability.

All vehicles are subject to evaluation and approval.

Are there any upfront fees?

A $49 check-in fee applies for all vehicles.

Cars, trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and vans:
• $70 upfront lot rent covering the first 60 days
• $35 per month if the vehicle remains on the lot beyond 60 days

RVs and campers:
• $98 upfront lot rent covering the first 60 days
• $49 per month if the vehicle remains on the lot beyond 60 days

Sale prices, timelines, and final proceeds are not guaranteed and depend on the final sale.

Who sets the sale price?

You Sell Auto sets the listing price based on current market conditions, vehicle value, and the amount the seller agrees to receive. Pricing may be adjusted as needed based on market response, buyer demand, and negotiation.

Can I consign my vehicle if I still owe money on it?

Yes. If there is a lien on the vehicle, we can assist with the payoff process as part of the sale. You will continue making your payments on it until it sells and has been paid off.

How long does consignment take?

There is no guaranteed timeframe. Sale time depends on market demand, pricing, vehicle condition, and seasonality. Our goal is always to market and sell your vehicle as quickly and effectively as possible.

A 60-day consignment agreement is required, which provides adequate time to properly market the vehicle and work toward a successful sale.

What does You Sell Auto handle during consignment?

We manage:

  • Professional marketing and exposure
  • Buyer inquiries and negotiations
  • Test drives
  • Financing and trade-ins
  • Title work and paperwork

When do I get paid?

Payment is issued after the vehicle sells. Processing time may vary and can take up to 20 days.

Why choose consignment instead of selling privately?

Consignment offers professional marketing, financing options for buyers, trade-in options for buyers, secure transactions, and reduced hassle compared to private sales — all while aiming to maximize market exposure.

Do you offer to buy my vehicle outright?

Yes. In addition to consignment, we can provide a cash offer to purchase your vehicle outright if you prefer a faster sale.

* All consignment terms, fees, and conditions are outlined in the written consignment agreement and may vary by vehicle. Information provided is for general informational purposes and does not replace the written consignment agreement.
